Three Card Brag is one of the oldest British card games and is considered a precursor to poker. Each player receives three cards and bets on having the best hand.

Similar to Teen Patti, players can play blind or after looking at their cards – bluffing is a central part of the game.

A Prial (three of a kind) is the strongest hand – three Aces even beat three Kings, an exception to the usual ranking.

Before betting, decide: look at cards or remain blind.

When only two players remain: request a comparison of hands.

The better hand according to the ranking wins the pot.

The best hand in the showdown wins the pot. Alternatively: all other players fold, and the last remaining player automatically wins without a showdown.

Play blind with a presumably weak hand – this withholds information and reduces your stake compared to seeing.

Bet aggressively with a Prial or Running Flush – these hands are rarely beaten by opponents.

Closely observe the betting behavior of other players – unusually fast or hesitant raises often reveal something about hand strength.

Only request a showdown when only two players remain and you believe your own position is strong.

Common Mistakes

Playing blind for too long, even though a look at your own hand would provide important tactical information.

Forgetting the special Ace Prial rule – three Aces beat all other Prials, which is an exception to the normal ranking.

Betting aggressively and thoughtlessly with a weak hand, without considering the behavior of other players.
