Cheat is a bluffing game: cards are discarded face down — with a claim that may be true or a lie. Whoever calls “Cheat!” and is right forces the liar to pick up the pile. Whoever is wrong picks up all the cards themselves.
The first player to get rid of all their cards wins. The balance between lying and exposing makes every round exciting.

What really
matters
On unsuspicious ranks, feel free to lay several cards at once — opponents doubt small amounts less often.
Watch how many cards of a rank have already been played — once four Aces are out, you know the next Ace claim is guaranteed to be a lie.
Call “Cheat” more against players with few cards in hand — they risk the most and therefore bluff more often.
Lie deliberately on ranks you don't hold at all — that's less conspicuous than borderline lies.
Doubting every single discard — that costs you cards when you're wrong too often.
Forgetting that when short on cards you can also lie with fewer cards than announced.
Hesitating too obviously before telling a lie — experienced players spot the pattern.
Forgetting the current rank and announcing the wrong number — that gets exposed immediately.
