A compact trump trick-taking game with only 24 cards. Fast hands, high tactical density – an American classic.
Choose trump,
take three tricks
Euchre is played with a reduced deck (9 to Ace, 24 cards) by four players in partner teams. The goal is for your team to win at least three of the five tricks in each round.
The special feature: The Jack of the trump suit ("Right Bower") is the highest card in the game – even above the Ace.
Before the
game begins
The Jack of the trump suit and the Jack of the same color ("Left Bower") are the two strongest cards – count them first in your hand.

Euchre is particularly popular in the Midwestern USA.
What really
matters
Count the Right Bower, Left Bower, and Ace of your trump suit first – with all three in hand, a march (all 5 tricks) is realistic.
Decline a suggested trump suit if your hand is weak in that suit – the free choice afterwards can benefit you more.
Play supportively as the dealer's partner – they know the kitty card best and should be tactically guided.
Defend aggressively against a weak opponent's bid – a Euchre (opponent fails to take 3 tricks) earns you 2 points instead of just 1.
Forgetting the Left Bower – many players overlook that the Jack of the same color is also trump.
Accepting a weak hand anyway just because the kitty card looks tempting.
Not considering that 3 out of 5 tricks are enough – you don't have to win every trick, just the majority.
Wasting trump too early instead of saving it for the crucial last tricks of the round.
Euchre is quick to play and only needs a reduced deck – perfect for a quick game.
